Wheeled Furniture Needs the Right Flooring

We went ahead and moved into our new home, even though it was mostly carpeted, which isn't our preference. We've been looking for ideas of what we'd like to do about this, and we've also been looking for a few good pieces of furniture, such as a designer sofa we saw on fashionforhome.com. The carpeting is also an issue of functionality for us. We have several pieces of furniture that have wheels and that we actually do need-and like-to move around. Take the piano bench, for example. It's so much easier to slide that out and then back in when we're ready to sit down and play. We also have a big leather coffee table/footrest that we like to be able to move around. This is also the case for some of our exercise equipment, and so on. Since the carpeting wasn't in the best shape anyway, and we knew we were eventually going to remove it, we decided to go ahead and get new hard surfaces for flooring. We can still have a rug here and there if we like, such as a Persian rug that my mother gave us, but as for the rest, we like the idea of wood and also tile floors. We've been looking at the larger size tiles, which we find modern and attractive. We think that having the new floors will really enhance the beauty of some of our nicer pieces of furniture and for the new ones we're picking out. I think it will also be easier to really clean well. Since I have allergies, I prefer the idea of having a fully cleanable surface. In fact, I'm so looking forward to it!
